The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced the upcoming elections to select Regional Representatives to the Council of State.
In a press release signed by Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa, the Commission outlined the guidelines and timeline for the elections.
According to the release, qualified persons intending to stand for the elections must submit their nomination forms with two recent passport-sized photographs against a red background.
The forms must be submitted to the Regional Director of the respective regions between January 28 and 31, 2025.
Nominations must be proposed and seconded by two registered voters in the region and supported by 20 registered voters.
The candidate must also consent to their nomination for election as a Member of the Council of State.
The Electoral Commission has made the Nomination Forms available on its website (https://www.ec.gov.gh) for download and completion in triplicate.
The elections will be held in all Regional Capitals on February 11, 2025, at venues to be determined by the Commission.
The Electoral Commission is mandated by Paragraph (C), Clause (2) of Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution to conduct these elections.
