Out of 276 parliamentary election results, the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has formally gazetted 274 of them; administrative and security issues have prevented the Dome-Kwabenya and Ablekuma North constituencies from being decided.
The EC promised the public that these unresolved issues would be resolved prior to the next Parliament’s swearing-in.
After the collation sites were moved, the EC acknowledged that some district officers first objected to announcing the results because they feared for their safety.
The procedure was momentarily slowed down by this resistance. Nonetheless, Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Services, stressed that the Commission is ready to take on these duties.
“Every problem we face is solvable,” Dr. Bossman stated, reaffirming the EC’s capacity to uphold the integrity of the election process.
