EC must remain neutral in December 7 polls – Eagle Eyesight Spirit

The Eagle Eyesight Spirit has added its voice to calls for peaceful elections in Ghana, urging all stakeholders to ensure a violence-free process.

At a press conference in Accra, the group expressed excitement that all presidential aspirants have endorsed the peace agreement and called on the Peace Council, media, police, and Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure peace prevails during and after the elections.

“We expect the peace council and other stakeholders like the media, police, EC to ensure that peace prevails during the upcoming election,” the group said.

The Eagle Eyesight Spirit also urged the EC to remain neutral and not favor any political party, as enshrined in the 1992 constitution.

“We are also craving the indulgence of the electoral commission (EC) to also exercise their duty devoid of favoring one political party but remain neutral,” the statement added.

Furthermore, the group called on Ghanaians to go to their polling stations on December 7, 2024, to cast their votes peacefully and ensure their votes are protected.

They also urged policemen and other security agencies to act professionally.

The Eagle Eyesight Spirit also sounded a caution to EC officials to refrain from aiding ballot stuffing, warning that they will meet resistance at the polling centers.

In addition, the group urged Ghanaian youth to come together to vote out the current government, citing economic challenges and insecurity.

“We are using this opportunity to edge the youth in Ghana to come together to see Bawumia and the Akufo Addo’s government off, because they have done nothing better for Ghanaians,” the group noted.
