EC revises media accreditation policy for constituency and regional collation centres

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a revised media accreditation policy, allowing media personnel with photo accreditation to cover polling stations to also access constituency and regional collation centres.

This decision was reached via internal deliberations and consultations with influential members of the media.

“The EC is desirous to maintain the highest level of transparency and accountability in its operations,” EC said in a statement.

“The revised media accreditation aims to provide media personnel with greater flexibility and access to key election centres.”

The EC emphasized its commitment to ensuring that the media can effectively cover the electoral process, stating that “this change reflects that commitment.”

EC-issued picture accreditation cards will be used by media persons to gain access to constituency and regional collation centers beginning on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

The EC further declared that plans for media access to the National Collation Center will be revealed when the time comes.
