Dr. Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has stated his belief that the Central Bank’s recently opened headquarters will improve its operational effectiveness and firmly establish Ghana as a major player in Africa’s financial sector.
Speaking at the new facility’s inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, November 20, Dr. Addison described the building’s strategic significance in coordinating the bank’s operations and promoting a more robust financial system.
Dr. Addison emphasized that the main goal of the new headquarters is to simplify the bank’s operations by bringing all of its offices in Accra under one roof.
The action is in line with the bank’s larger modernization plan, which aims to establish it as a progressive organization that can adapt to the needs of a changing global financial environment, the governor continued.
“As you may be aware, the Bank of Ghana has multiple offices in the city of Accra and with a strategic plan to harmonise all these operational units at the headquarters under one roof. This new head office provides us with the opportunity to better streamline our operations, improve communication, reduce cost and create the needed synergies for efficiency.
“The Bank Square was designed with the future in mind and stands as one of the most important modern civic landmarks in the city of Accra and for that matter, our nation. This building will play a pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s identity as a leading force in Africa’s financial ecosystem.”
