Election 2024: NPP accuses NDC of ‘transporting’ ballot papers to Togo
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has transported election ballot papers to neighboring Togo.
At a press briefing on Friday night, the Director of Communications for the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, questioned the rationale behind sending ballot papers to a country where citizens are not eligible to vote, calling the explanation that it was for voter education highly questionable.
He urged Ghanaians to remain calm yet vigilant throughout the electoral process to ensure transparency and prevent any potential irregularities.
Miracles Aboagye also accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of attempting to manipulate the election in their stronghold—the Volta Region, which they refer to as their “World Bank.”
Highlighting the proximity of the incident to election day, the NPP representative described the alleged inappropriate handling of ballot papers as “uncalled for” and a move that raises serious concerns about the NDC’s intentions.
He alleged that the opposition party is resorting to illegal tactics because they anticipate losing the election.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye commended the campaign efforts of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, noting that his hard work has unsettled the NDC and strengthened the NPP’s position.
He called on the electorate to remain vigilant and law-abiding while applauding the Ghana Police Service for their dedication and professionalism in safeguarding the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the constituency secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akatsi North, Abraham Ahiabu, has denied claims of his arrest and investigation in connection with the possession of dummy ballot papers.
