Even NPP members want Akufo-Addo to lose- Mahama

Former president John Mahama says the agitation for change in the country’s governance direction is not coming only from supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but also from known members of the ruling party.

Speaking on his presidential campaign trail in the Bongo Constituency, Mahama said people within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who engage him are not only disappointed with the abysmal performance and corruption within the Bawumia—Akufo-Addo administration, but they also want the NPP to lose so they can take back their party from the President and his cronies, who have hijacked it for their greed and personal interests.

“NPP members who speak to me confess this government has been an abysmal failure. There are many praying the party loses so that they can take it back from the Akufo Addo-Bawumia cartel, who want to make the party their bonafide property,” he stated.

Mr Mahama, addressing a mini durbar at the Namoo Primary School Park at Bongo in the Upper East region, said Ghanaians have weighed the two major political parties and cannot be misled again.

“If someone steps on your toe once and does so for the second time, will you allow him to do the same the third time?” he asked the teeming crowd, who shouted No, No.

The NDC flag bearer slammed the government for plunging the economy into crisis and explained that after misleading Ghanaians in 2016 and 2020, there should be no way Ghanaians would give them a third term.

He said the eight years of hardship under the government was enough pain and must be kicked out.

“They have borrowed and chopped the money now and left the debt for us to pay. The time has come for us to send them packing. They must go back into opposition.”
