Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s vice president and presidential candidate, for his intentions to build a massive railway from Tema to the north.
Bawumia announced last week that he will give railway development top priority during his tour of the Ashanti Region. He highlighted a strategic route that would connect Tema to the North via Boakra and to the Western Region.
Former President Kufuor praised the railway construction plan and other initiatives Bawumia detailed in an exclusive interview with Asempa FM, saying they are necessary for the regeneration of the nation.
“A few days ago, I was listening to him and he mentioned his plans to prioritise railway development,” said former President Kufuor.
“He mentioned Tema through Boakra all the way to the north to open up the country, using the iron deposit, which is very good and the way to go.”
In support of Dr. Bawumia’s election as Ghana’s next president, former President Kufuor claimed that the vice president, who is qualified for the presidency, has shown that he understands the fundamentals of contemporary government, which is necessary for a leader to change a nation.
“We need somebody like him who understands modern trends in global affairs and also technology and digitalisation.
These are the trends in developed countries like America and others,” former President Kufuor said.”
