Family of late Akua Donkor demands state burial, completion of hometown projects

In order to honor the memory of the late Ghana Freedom Party leader Akua Donkor, her family is requesting a state funeral.

Akua Donkor is remembered for her tenacity and commitment to standing up for the average Ghanaian in politics. She died on Monday, October 28, at night at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

In her hometown of Ejuratia, her family members and local authorities also support the government’s completion of the development projects she started there.

“My mother contributed significantly to the development of Ghana, she has impacted several communities and lives. I will always remember her anytime I bump into politicians. She embarked on several developmental projects, and we have an asphalt road at Ejuratia because of my mother”, said Nana Baffour Akoto, a spokesperson for the family.

“She took family land of 25 acres for the construction of the road, she also constructed a bus station, and she also refurbished the school in Ejuratia. In Abrade, she also provided water, and energy and built a school, and in Hemang, she built a market, and a toilet facility at the police station at Mamponteng”.

For Akua Donkor’s sister Ama Konadu, the late politician has “accomplished so many things for the communities. I’m calling on the state to honour her by giving her a state burial.”
