Farmers Day: November 8 not a public holiday – Interior Ministry

The Ministry of Interior has made it clear that Friday, November 8, 2024, will not be a public holiday, despite marking the 2024 National Farmers’ Day.

The Ministry said in a statement signed by the Interior Minister Henry Quartey on Tuesday, November 5, that the day will be observed but not designated a public holiday.

However, the Ministry reassures that Friday, December 6, 2024, officially marking Farmers’ Day, will remain a statutory public holiday and be observed nationwide.

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture announced that the 40th edition of National Farmers’ Day will take place on November 8, 2024, with President Akufo-Addo confirming the date.

This year’s celebrations will be hosted in the Greater Accra Region, with no regional-level celebrations.

Each region can nominate winners for 10 regional award categories. Awardees will be honored at the Awards Night Ceremony at 4:00 p.m. on November 8, 2024, at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge. Regional Ministers will confer awards on the honourees from their respective regions.
