Issa Hayatou, the former president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), passed away at the age of 77.
On Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Paris, the football administrator who had been a significant influence in African football for many years passed away.
He was born in Garoua, Cameroon, on August 9, 1946, and passed away only one day shy of becoming 78 years old.
“We have lost a great leader, a man who dedicated his life to the growth of football in Africa. His legacy will continue to inspire us as we move forward in our mission to develop the sport on the continent,” a spokesperson from CAF is quoted as saying by Cameroon Concord.
