Future NPP gov’t will reinstate sacked public servants, pay backlogs – Kennedy Osei Nyarko

Akim Swedru lawmaker Kennedy Nyarko Osei has assured sacked public service workers that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will reinstate them when the party returns to power.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Osei Nyarko stated that the affected persons would be fully compensated for the years they would spend at home.

He noted that the NPP would reverse the “undemocratic and unconscionable behaviour” of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

“We will right the wrongs in the future NPP government. We are keeping copies of the termination letters for the purposes of the future,” he assured.

The Akim Swedru MP urged the affected appointees to “keep it cool” as the NPP would ensure they receive their due compensation.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, directed the annulment of all public sector appointments and recruitment made after December 7, 2024.

He explained in a confidential letter addressed to all heads of government institutions leaked on the Internet that the appointment was not incompliance with good governance practices and principles.

The Chief of Staff noted that such last-minute appointments were inconsistent with the government’s stated position on end-of-tenure recruitment.

“Consistent with government pronouncements in relation to near end-of-tenure appointments and recruitment, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitment made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December 2024, are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles,” excerpts of the letter sighted by Metro TV noted.
