Ghana faces Imminent Dumsor As Fuel Stocks For Power Generation Dwindle -John Abdulai

John Abdulai Jinapor, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Yapei-Kusawgu seat, disclosed that Ghana’s fuel supply is only sufficient for five hours of electricity generation.

In an interview with Joy News, the energy specialist and NDC MP issued a dire warning about the nation’s impending energy catastrophe.

“I have bad news for you. As of today, the confirmation we are receiving is that we have only five hours’ worth of fuel left,” he said.

According to him, the departing Nana-Addo administration neglected to buy fuel in spite of the NDC transition team’s persistent pleas and worries.

John Jinapor went on to say that the nation’s existing fuel supply for electricity generation is only going to last two days at most.

“If you look at the heavy fuel oil and diesel fuel, we don’t have enough to last two days. So, in two days’ time, we are likely to run out of fuel.”

“This administration has not placed any fuel orders as we speak,” he concluded.

He was addressing following President John Mahama’s inauguration on January 7 in Accra.
