Ghana’s Healthcare System Faces Significant Challenges, Ministers Advocate for Quality Health Delivery

At the 2024 Annual Health Summit held today in Accra, Dr. Bernard Okoboi, the Minister of Health Designate, highlighted the significant challenges facing Ghana’s healthcare system. The year under review has seen the health sector grappling with accumulated bills, particularly concerning ongoing health projects initiated by the ministry. Dr. Okoboi emphasized the irregular supply of commodities and health medicines, which are essential consumables for the nation’s healthcare facilities.

In his address, Dr. Okoboi pointed out that the capital of the National Health Insurance funds remains a challenge. The ministry is actively working to overcome these obstacles to ensure the delivery of quality health services for all citizens.

During the summit, which aims to foster dialogue for enhancing healthcare delivery, Dr. Amin Adams, the Finance Minister, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the health sector.
