The government has authorized a ten percent pay increase for public sector employees after the Labour Union and President John Dramani Mahama successfully negotiated.
This is less than a year’s second wage adjustment. Following a major 23% compensation adjustment in 2024 to protect employees from growing living expenses, the most recent pay increase comes after that.
The government’s commitment to reducing financial burdens in the face of economic hardships was demonstrated when President Mahama personally met with union representatives to gain their support for the hike.
Rashid Pelpuo, Minister of Labor, Jobs, and Employment, stated in his announcement that the raise will be effective on March 1, 2025.
It is anticipated that thousands of workers in the public sector will benefit from the pay increase.
