GRIDCo and ECG restore power to affected areas

The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCO) has restored gas supply to Tema’s thermal power plants, according to a positive announcement made by the Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

Affected customers can now rest easy because all previously shut-down power plants have reopened, guaranteeing the restoration of the electrical supply.

The gas supply has been restored following a brief interruption that impacted Tema thermal power plant operations and caused power outages in some areas of the nation.

Businesses and homes were affected by the outages, which disrupted daily life and caused inconvenience.

However, all impacted power plants have successfully resumed operations with the return of gas supplies from WAPCO, GRIDCo, and ECG, providing much-needed stability to the country’s electrical grid.

Stakeholders have received assurances from the two organizations that they will provide Ghanaians with a dependable supply of electricity.

GRIDCo and ECG thanked customers and stakeholders for their patience during the disruptions brought on by the gas supply issues in a joint press release issued on Friday, December 13, 2024.

“We thank our stakeholders and customers for their patience and understanding,” they added.
