Hajj Village not funded by taxpayers’ money – Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Expect a much smaller presidential staff than Akufo-Addo's 336 - Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson for President John Mahama, has refuted claims making rounds on social media that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is funding the Hajj Village despite strongly criticizing the NPP for misusing the taxpayers money for the construction of the National Cathedral while in opposition.

The Hajj Village, a facility designed to facilitate the travel of Ghanaian pilgrims to Mecca, has been at the center of controversy regarding its funding.

However, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson for President John Mahama, has clarified that the facility is primarily an airport terminal building owned and built by the Ghana Airport Company Limited, with no taxpayer money involved.

“The Hajj Village is primarily an Airport Terminal Building for check-in and pilgrim facilitation, owned and being built by the Ghana Airports Company. Not a pesewa of taxpayers’ money involved,” Kwakye Ofosu stated on social media.

This clarification comes on the heels of public discussions about the funding sources of the new Hajj Village, a landmark project aimed at improving facilities for Ghanaian pilgrims embarking on the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

The Hajj Village is expected to provide a dignified and well-structured environment for Ghanaian Muslims as they embark on their spiritual journey to Mecca.
