Haruna, Muntaka Snub NDC Meeting With Minority Caucus

A meeting between the Minority Caucus in Parliament and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership was arranged, but two giant members of the caucus boycotted the meeting.

In the meeting between the National Executive, the Council of Elders of the NDC, and the Minority Caucus in Parliament on Monday, February 6, 2023, Haruna Iddrisu and Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the previous Minority Leader and Minority Chief Whip, were both absent.

Party leaders, including the Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, his General Secretary Fifi Kwetey, and the NDC’s Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi, were present at the meeting, which was held at the DF Annan Auditorium in Parliament House.

Mahama Iddrisu, the head of the Council of Elders, James Klutse Avedzi, a former deputy minority leader, and Edward Doe Adjaho, a former speaker of parliament, were also present.

Speaking to the media following the meeting, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, said the issues brought up have given the party the chance to create a structure for managing the Minority caucus in Parliament.

“You can see from the enthusiasm that the challenges that arose from the announcement of the new leadership of our Caucus have all been resolved.”

Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said the party’s leadership has developed a structure to choose the Caucus’ leadership in the future as a result of the disagreement that followed the announcement of the reshuffle, the Chairman further revealed.

“The challenges that we have been through in the few days have produced very beneficial results and it has led to the formulation of a framework for leading our Caucus in Parliament

“One of the takeaways from this meeting is for us to go and quickly expedite action for the formulation of a framework of leading our Caucus in Parliament in the future.”
