The Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General Matthew Essien and some other Senior Officers has paid a courtesy call on the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah in his Office.
The purpose of the visit was to officially extend an invitation to Mr. Speaker, Leadership of the House as well as Members of Parliament to participate in the upcoming public lecture scheduled to take place on 1st July 2024.
The lecture will focus on National Security and Defence issues and also serve as a forum to discuss issues pertaining to security at large.
The public lecture is on the theme “a reflection of the Democratic control over the military, the way forward for sustainability”.
On his part, the second deputy Speaker commended Major General Essien and his colleagues for the initiative and the visit to the Legislative House to formally invite them for the public lecture.” This is the center of democracy “Mr. speaker stressed.
In furtherance, the ranking Member on Defence and Interior Committee Hon., James Agalga explained that ,he would personally take up the responsibility to attend the public lecture adding that “This is an exercise that require the fullest participation of the House.”
Senior Principal Assistant Clerk in charge of Leadership, Speakership and Membership Services Mad Jane Frimpong, Director of Speaker Secretariat Mr. Anthony Agyekum, Director of Media Relations, Mr. Sebastian David Damoah, Director of Public Engagement, Supt (rtd) Effia Tenge and some officers of Parliamentary Service assisted Mr. Speaker to host the delegation.
