I left NPP because party members flout rules — Ken Kuranchie

Chief Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper Kenneth Kwabena Agyei Kuranchie gave an explanation for his departure from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that he had doubts about the party’s compliance with rules.

Ken Kuranchie claims that the anomalies that occurred during the party’s parliamentary primaries were caused by the NPP’s disobedience of its own regulations.

“The foundation of Ghana was built on rule of law,if you are in a group that does not respect the constitution or flout its own rules , you can choose to be there or quit,”Kenneth Kwabena Agyei Kuranchie told Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Adwenekasa on Accra-based Original FM 91.9.

Ken Kuranchie announced his desire to split from the NPP, citing his disappointment with the party’s disregard for its own principles.

He underscored his belief that continuing to align himself with a party that does not respect it’s own guidelines is a waste of time,”he added.

Although Kuranchie had backed the NPP in the 2016 and 2020 elections, he insisted he had no animosity against the party.

Ken Kuranchie made a daring announcement in 2024 that he would run as an independent in the Okaikwei North constituency, demonstrating his resolve to further his political goals outside of the NPP.
