Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has denied claims that Fulani herdsmen will be allowed to destroy farmlands under his leadership. According to him, the opposition is trying to incite anxiety that a vote for him would result in disorder among the Fulbe community, with whom he has family, by classifying these charges as propaganda from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking to supporters in Ejura Sekyedumase on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Dr. Bawumia gave residents the assurance that his administration would guarantee the equitable and just application of Ghanaian law.
He emphasized that, regardless of a person’s origin or ethnicity, his presidency would not put up with any illegal activity.
Dr. Bawumia refuted the idea that his connections to the Fulani people will result in special treatment by reaffirming his dedication to respecting the law.
He emphasized the significance of unity and equity in governance and pledged to impartially put the interests of all Ghanaians first.
The flagbearer of the NPP advised supporters to ignore the NDC’s assertions, characterizing them as attempts to foment discord and mistrust.
He emphasized a strong commitment to the development of the nation by promising that his administration will defend Ghana’s agriculture industry and make sure that the country’s farmers are protected from any potential dangers.
“Now the NDC is running propaganda that my reign will permit Fulanis to destroy the farmlands, but that will never happen, it’s all propaganda we will never allow it to happen.”
“The law will deal with each and everybody. So please don’t listen to such propaganda that we will allow the Fulani to destroy your farmlands.”
“They will be arrested if they are caught. We are bringing Development with benefits to the town. Give me the Power and you will testify to that,” he vowed.
