IMF Managing Director lauds Akufo-Addo’s leadership

Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), thanked former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a heartfelt letter for his leadership during his term in office.

The head of the IMF praised the important reforms and policies put in place under Akufo-Addo’s leadership, which have prepared the way for Ghana’s future.

Georgieva also praised Akufo-Addo’s support of Sub-Saharan Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic in the statement.

His efforts showed his dedication to regional cooperation and development by helping to mobilize the resources needed to respond to the crisis.

Georgieva has previously communicated with the leadership of Ghana.

She met with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, President Akufo-Addo, and other government officials during her three-day trip to Accra in March 2024.

The outstanding cooperation between the Ghanaian government and the IMF was further commended by the IMF Managing Director.
