The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in Ghana has extended warm congratulations to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in Ghana’s 2024 presidential elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Consulate commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the people of Ghana for upholding democratic principles and ensuring peaceful governance during the electoral process.
The Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Ghana, H.E. Paskal A.B. Rois, described Mahama’s election as a reflection of the trust Ghanaians have in his vision and leadership. He highlighted that this new chapter in Ghana’s history presents an opportunity for enhanced cooperation between the two nations, leveraging their shared values and aspirations.
Strengthening Indonesia-Ghana Relations
H.E. Rois outlined key areas where Indonesia and Ghana could deepen collaboration under Mahama’s leadership such Agro-Industry and Food Security where he noted that Indonesia’s expertise in agricultural innovation and food processing offers Ghana a chance to enhance its agricultural value chain, improve productivity, and boost food security.
In the area of Energy Development he said Indonesia’s advancements in renewable energy and sustainable mining, technology transfers and investments could support Ghana’s energy transition and infrastructure growth.
On Trade and Investment by observing that Expanding trade relations could give Ghana access to Indonesia’s market of over 270 million people, with the Consulate poised to facilitate business delegations and joint ventures.
Again in the area of Tourism and Cultural Exchange, he emphasized both countries could capitalize on their rich cultural heritage to promote tourism and foster people-to-people connections.
He also touched on Education and Technology where he proposed Scholarships, exchange programs, and technical training from Indonesian institutions could help advance human capital development in Ghana.
Proposed State Visit
The Consulate also expressed its readiness to support a state visit by President-elect Mahama to Indonesia following his inauguration. Such a visit, according to H.E. Rois, would lay the groundwork for strategic partnerships aimed at advancing Ghana’s growth and sustainable development.
“This is a pivotal moment for Ghana and Indonesia to forge deeper ties,” Rois remarked, emphasizing the Consulate’s commitment to fostering mutually beneficial collaborations.
