Ing. Ben Asante Resigns as CEO of Ghana Gas

Ing. Ben Asante has stepped down from his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), marking the end of a significant chapter for the state-owned enterprise.

Dr. Asante was appointed acting CEO by President Nana Akufo-Addo on January 30, 2017, and was later confirmed to the position, leading the company headquartered in Atuabo, Ellembelle District, Western Region.

During his tenure, Dr. Asante implemented transformative policies that prioritized the use of local expertise in the operations and management of Ghana Gas.

This strategic decision saved the country millions of dollars previously spent on expatriates, including Chinese nationals, who had been managing the facility.

His leadership also focused on improving the welfare of Ghana Gas employees, who were among the lowest-paid workers in the oil and gas sector.

Dr. Asante successfully advocated for salary increases ranging from 30% to 85%, significantly enhancing the conditions of service for the workforce.
