The head office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Kanda, Accra, was attacked Monday morning by claimed National Democratic Congress (NDC) sympathizers, in a startling development.
In Ghana, where party followers frequently seize public positions after a change of administration, this incident is the most recent in a concerning pattern of violence that follows elections.
According to eyewitnesses, the thugs arrived at the office complex, demanding that staff vacate the premises and hand over the keys to the facility.
The attackers, who were said to be rather many, damaged a photo of President Akufo-Addo and other officials when they took over the office buildings.
Luckily, additional damage was avoided because they were unable to fully enter the main offices.
This incidence is not unique.
According to NADMO employees, their officers are unjustly assaulted whenever there is a change of leadership.
