Ken Ofori-Atta sues National Security Operatives for ‘raiding’ his home

Former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta has sued Chief Inspector Mensah, also known as Sir Mensah, and DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah for trespassing and violating his right to privacy.

The lawsuit comes after a group of people, some of whom were dressed in police and military uniforms, allegedly raided his Cantonments home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Ofori-Atta was allegedly abroad at the time of the incident, but his wife and other family members were there.

Security footage and eyewitness reports suggest that about 12 people participated in the operation. Five of them wore military uniforms, one wore a police uniform, and the others wore plain clothing. Whether any items were taken or not is still unknown, as is the reason for the raid.

At first, there was conjecture that the operation was carried out by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). At a press conference on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, however, flatly denied any involvement, claiming that the OSP had neither authorized nor carried out the raid.

In a summons sighted by Metro TV on Wednesday, March 12, Ofori-Atta is arguing that the defendants’ actions violate his right to privacy and constitute trespassing.

The former minister is pursuing a number of legal remedies, such as a permanent injunction to stop any more tampering with his property, restitution for trespassing and privacy violations, and a declaration that the defendants’ actions were illegal. He is also requesting legal fees and aggravated damages.
