Head coach of King Faisal FC, Prince Acheampong, popularly known as Sabuto, has been confirmed dead after battling an ailment.
Acheampong was hired on January 5, 2025, by the Division One League team to replace Barnabas Awuni, who was fired after the team’s terrible start to the 2024–2025 season.
The 52-year-old tactician died on Tuesday afternoon after two weeks in the hospital due to sickness, according to Metro TV sources.
Known as ‘Tactical Sabuto,’ he has achieved a great deal of coaching expertise and has managed a number of clubs, including serving as assistant coach of Asante Kotoko in the 2010–11 campaign. He was also the coach of Fabulous Ladies FC and Dunkwa United.
He led the boys’ soccer team from Opoku Ware School (OWASS) to third place in the Ashanti Regional Inter-School and Colleges in 2024.
Acheampong, who has a CAF License A certificate, and T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS (T.I. AMASS) won the winners of the Ashanti Regional Inter-School Competition from 2016 to 2018.
