Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, has been officially appointed as Parliament’s new Majority Leader, succeeding Cassiel Ato Forson, who is now Minister of Finance.
Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi, is also in line to take over as Majority Chief Whip in the reshuffle, which is anticipated to result in a strategic realignment within the Majority Caucus.
Governs Agbodza, who recently assumed the position of Minister for Roads and Highways, will be replaced by him.
Cape Coast South MP Kweku Ricketts-Hagan is expected to succeed Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who has been assigned to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, as the Deputy Majority Leader.
The current Second Deputy Whip, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, is also reportedly in line to be promoted to First Deputy Whip. The majority leadership team on the front bench would be further strengthened by this possible promotion.
The reshuffle is a reflection of the Majority Caucus leadership’s attempts to maintain stability and efficient coordination while recently sworn-in ministers get used to their new positions.
