Renowned economist and statesman Kwame Pianim is urging Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, over John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress on December 7.
If Vice President Bawumia is chosen to be president, Pianim sees a drastically different course for Ghana’s future.
He made an appearance on Bawumia’s campaign team as an advisor, stressing the possible effects of raising Bawumia to the position of national leader.
Pianim underlined that previous President Mahama had already completed his term in an interview with Joy News, urging voters to take Bawumia’s fresh viewpoint into consideration.
“Mahama has been a president, Bawumia hasn’t so why don’t we give him the chance so we see what he can do?” he questioned.
Pianim brushed down recent rumors that Dr. Bawumia was severing his ties to the Akufo-Addo administration by presenting his “Bold Solution” in a future speech, calling them “unfortunate.”
He made it clear that the Vice President does not make decisions on his own; rather, he supports the President in doing so.
Pianim emphasized that while the Vice President’s responsibilities are restricted to assisting the President in making choices, every citizen provides input to the President. “Let’s give Bawumia the benefit of the doubt; you will do whatever the president decides. Let’s see after we give him a chance.
Kwame Pianim’s endorsement gives a powerful voice to the debate ahead of the December elections, bringing up issues of leadership selection and Ghana’s future direction under prospective presidents.
