Ghana’s new President, John Dramani Mahama, has applauded Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his quick acceptance of defeat after 2024 election.
In a statement to the country on December 8, Bawumia stated that he personally called then-NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him.
On January 7, Mahama delivered his inauguration address at Independence Square in Accra, wishing Bawumia all the best in his future endeavors.
“I extend my warmest wishes to H.E. former Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, it was a gruelling campaign. And we gave it our all.
“Your sportsmanship in making an early concession eased tensions and contributed to the early conclusion of the electoral contest. I wish you all the best in your endeavours.”
