Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has counseled Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also referred to as NAPO, to make sure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the leader of the New Patriotic Party, does not regret appointing him as his running mate.
At the official presentation of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to the Asante Kingdom’s King at Kumasi’s Manhyia Palace by the NPP’s leaders, the Otumfuo addressed these issues.
Before the leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Honorable King chastised NAPO, telling him to keep the faith his political ally had placed in him.
The Asantehene addressed reports of NAPO’s purported disobedience as well, saying that he needs to make efforts to prevent the disobedient tag from being applied.
“As a son, I have advised him in the room, but let me tell him this again; don’t let Dr. Bawumia regret selecting you to be his running mate. As you go, be a good servant to him. Do what he tells you to [do].
“I am only repeating what I said indoors, in humility, go and serve him. Be obedient and do only the things he asks you to.
“Some have said that you are disobedient. It’s a surprise to me because I didn’t see that when I was training him. Why is it that people are now complaining that he has become a disobedient person?
“I will pardon you and say that it is not the case, but don’t let that also be the description people give you. We pray that God’s plans for you will materialise and we tell Dr. Bawumia that I have committed you to his hands. If he offends you, let me know, and I will deal with him in private,” he stated.
