The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey, has officially handed over the old #GaMashie Premix Filling Station at the #Jamestown Fishing Harbour for reconstruction.
The renovation work, which is expected to be completed within six weeks, includes the installation of new, efficient automated fuel pumps and dispensing systems, as well as digital monitoring and control systems, and the construction of new and secure storage tanks among others. The new system, upon completion, would address safety concerns and smuggling previously experienced in the old system, eliminate the need for manual purchases, allow for real-time monitoring, ensure remote fuel management, and improve auditing at the station.
Speaking after the handover, Mayor Sackey, accompanied by the Coordinating Director of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Douglas N.K Annoful, emphasized the importance of the reconstruction project, noting that it would enhance the operational efficiency of the fishing harbour and improve the livelihoods of the local fishing community. “The reconstruction of the Ga Mashie Premix Filling Station is a critical infrastructure project that will support our fishermen by ensuring they have reliable access to premix fuel,” she said.
