Military, security dogs guard Parliament ahead of today’s sitting

Heavily armed military personnel and security dogs have been spotted at the Parliament premises before today’s sitting, Ignite Media’s Parliamentary Correspondent, Martin Kwabena Ahwireng reports.

This development follows controversy surrounding four parliamentary seats declared vacant by the Speaker, but the Supreme Court has granted a stay of execution.

The increased security presence is a precautionary measure to prevent potential disruptions or unrest.

In an earlier statement, Deputy Marshal of Parliament WG CDR Frederick Bawa (Rtd) announced that all MPs, staff, and press members will undergo thorough screening before entering the Chamber.

Additionally, bodyguards of MPs will not be permitted inside the Chamber.

MPs must be dropped off at designated zones within the Africa International Conference Centre (AICC) precincts, with directions provided by the Ghana Police Service.

They are also required to wear their parliamentary identification tags.

Access to the Chamber will be restricted from 0800 hours, while the public gallery will remain closed until further notice.
