The Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has led a 28-member delegation on a visit the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Monday, 22 January, 2024 at Otu Barracks in Teshie.
The visit was occasioned by a prior invitation by the College, seeking collaboration to expand its academic programmes.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, acknowledged the role of the military in global role peace and security, and affirmed the commitment of his Ministry to supporting the modernization agenda of GAFCSC. He pledged to collaborate with the Ministry of Defence to seek Parliamentary approval for the transition of the College into a university.
The Minister assured that the Ministry of Education would reinforce the capacity of the College by providing the essential logistical support necessary to enable the meet its objectives. In this regard, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum pledged to donate 20 laptop computers to the College.
The Commandant GAFCSC, Major General Bismarck Kwesi Onwonah, expressed gratitude to Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and his delegation for the visit, as such was momentous in the history of the College. He expressed optimism that the visit would help address prevalent academic challenges faced by the institution.
