West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus was sent off during the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur after a dramatic meltdown.
Kudus had given West Ham the lead in the first half, but the team collapsed after halftime, conceding three goals in just seven minutes, ultimately losing the game 4-1.
The Ghanaian’s red card came after he kicked out at Micky van de Ven, pushed his hands into Van de Ven’s face and accidentally collided with Richarlison.
He also pushed his hands into the face of Pape Mate Sarr, which the referee initially missed. Following a VAR review, Kudus received a straight red card, meaning he will be suspended for West Ham’s next three matches.
Reacting to the incident, former Premier League referee, Mike Dean stated that Kudus could face a six-game suspension.
“The FA will then take retrospective action so he’ll get done twice in my opinion because he’s hit two different players in the face on two occasions. He should do. I think he will get done twice,” Dean said.
Should that materialize, Kudus will be sidelined until December, missing matches against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal and Leicester City.
