A Communications member at the Energy Ministry, Centence Baffour has quashed allegations by Adakabre Frimpong Manso, the host of an afternoon political show on Neat 100.9 FM that the Energy Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh distanced himself from the Vice President on the Vice President’s recent visit to the affected traders at the Kumasi Central Market.
According to him, those allegations are false and untrue hence they must be treated with the contempt it deserves.
Below Is A Full Statement Sighted By Myoriginalonline On Centence Baffour Facebook Wall
I have learned with utmost shock and dismay the unprintable words used by Adakabre Frimpong Manso, host of an afternoon political show on Neat 100.9 FM.
The journalist outburst and spill of venom on the Energy Minister in about 12:43 minutes video is premised on 2 key issues;
a. Why the Minister has not intervened in the activities of the ECG in relation to the sale of Prepaid Meters.
b. Why the Minister seem to have distanced himself from the Vice President on the Vice President’s recent visit to the affected traders at the Kumasi Central Market.
On issue (a), I will not spend much time as Mr. Kofi Abrefa Afena, Communications Specialist at the Energy Ministry, has already given a detailed response to that effect.
On issue (b), I deem it necessary to write on not because of the actors involved but because I was present at the scene and thus have primary information.
In the early hours of Monday, 20th March, 2023, I personally arrived at the Kumasi Central Market in waiting of the Vice President due to an information of his visit I had the previous day at the Akwaside.
Just us we all know in the ordinary course of dealing of the Vice President, he is mostly accompanied by Government officials. The Veep got to the market with several Ministers of State, Government officials, party officer and sympathizers of which Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was part.
A mob trooped to receive the Veep and while Dr. Opoku Prempeh who is a true son of the land got down his vehicle, a section of market women troop to heap appellations on him.
Dr. Prempeh knowing the presence of his boss and the need to acknowledge his presence had to divert from moving towards the entourage to displace the mob and ensure orderliness at where the Vice President.
It is instructive to note that no single individual hooted at the entourage as the said account depict an erroneous picture placed by persons with ill-motive.
I believe Mr. Adakabre should ascertain the real facts before venting on the Minister as his actions clearly depict one who has a personal hatred for the Hon. Minister.
I urge all well meaning Ghanaians to treat the content of Mr. Adakabre’s video with all the contempt it deserves.
God bless our homeland Ghana.
