NDC opposes EC’s automatic reordering of ballot positions

The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Director of Elections and Information Technology, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has sent a strong notice to the Electoral Commission (EC) expressing his adamant opposition to any automatic reordering of the candidates’ positions on the ballot.

Dr. Boamah highlighted the significance of openness and adherence to fair electoral procedures in his Facebook post on October 30, stressing that his party would not tolerate any capricious changes to ballot placements.

He made these comments as worries about how such a move might affect the voting process’s integrity grew.

“We shall not accept automatic re-arrangement of positions on the ballot,” Dr. Boamah asserted, suggesting that such a shift might compromise the level playing field critical to fair elections.

As the nation approaches the forthcoming general elections, public scrutiny of the electoral body’s preparations has increased as a result of Dr. Boamah’s notice to the EC.

The Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission (EC), meanwhile, “has suspended the printing of presidential ballot papers” due to the “unfortunate passing” of Madam Akua Donkor, even though it is “near completion.”
