NDC’s Richard Manuribe sues Yaw Asani Tano for defamation

A businessman and a politician, Richard Manuribe, has sued Yaw Asani Tano and Despite Media for defamation.

According to a writ filed at the Accra Circuit Court (General Jurisdiction), Accra, Richard Manuribe is seeking damages of GHS 1,000,000.00 (One Million Ghana Cedis) for defamation, including exemplary and punitive damages.

The plaintiff alleges that Yaw Asani Tano made defamatory statements about him on Neat FM, which were republished by various media outlets.

“Richard Manuribe states that the allegations made by Yaw Asani Tano are pure fabrications and contain no iota of truth,” the writ filed by him lawyers state.

The plaintiff is seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining Yaw Asani Tano from further publishing or causing to be published the said or similar words defamatory of him.

Richard Manuribe is also seeking an order directed at Yaw Asani Tano to retract the foul statements about him contained in the Neat FM Publications , together with an apology to him, in the medium and with the same prominence.

The defendant has eight days to enter an appearance or risk judgment being given in his absence.
