The National Health Insurance Authority’s (NHIA) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, has been in talks with important parties to further health programs under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and to improve research collaboration.
Dr. Aboagye recently met with the dean of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Medical School and a number of faculty members to discuss ways to improve cooperation, particularly in the field of research.
The main topic of discussion was how to incorporate research findings into the Annual Health Check benefits package, which the NHIA introduced to encourage preventative health practices all throughout the nation.
Dr. Aboagye also met with World Child Cancer representatives and their local partners earlier last week. The focus of the discussion was on the four childhood malignancies that are currently covered by the NHIS, which demonstrates the authority’s dedication to enhancing Ghanaian children’s access to cancer care.
The stakeholders deliberated on tactics to augment the assistance and attention dispensed to kids afflicted with cancer, as well as how the NHIA may more efficiently cooperate with domestic and global associates to broaden the scope of its cancer treatment initiatives.
Dr. Aboagye underscored the significance of these collaborations in augmenting healthcare provision in Ghana, pointing out that sustained cooperation with scholarly and global health establishments will fortify the NHIA’s ability to address the dynamic health requirements of the populace.
