NHIA hosts Nigeria Pharmacy Council delegation

Executive Management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), at the Head Office in Accra, on May 15, 2024, hosted a twelve (12) member delegation from the Nigeria Pharmacy Council.

The delegation’s mission was to under-study the NHIA’s successful integration with the National Electronic Pharmacy Platform (NEPP), which is dedicated to amplifying access to high-quality pharmaceutical services, championing patient safety, and advancing health equity.

The engagement was chaired by the NHIA Deputy Chief Executive, in charge of Operations, Louisa Atta-Agyemang (Mrs.)

She was there with three Board Members of the NHIA, Madam Joyce Konokie Zempare, Professor Christian Agyare and Dr. Isaac Charles Noble Morrison.

She commended the delegation for the study tour and underscored the need for positive synergy between the two institutions.

Louisa Atta-Agyemang (Mrs.) noted that Ghana?s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is making tremendous successes in the Sub-Region and highlighted the need for enough funding to sustain the Scheme.

She insisted that there should be a comprehensive Information Communication Technology (ICT) network to integrate all relevant stakeholders in the health eco-system in the Sub-Region.

A Senior Manager with the NHIA Management Information Systems (MIS) Directorate, Mr. Ebenezer Hooper, (Head, Information Security & Standards) made a presentation the NHIA?s successful integration with the National Electronic Pharmacy Platform (NEPP).

The power point presentation mirrored an overview of the NHIA operations, the need for Integration with NEPP (E-Pharmacy), project implementation structure, identified systems for the integration, NHIA-NEPP integration framework, tests run and pilot implementation, current stage of the ongoing Integration, challenges, and recommendations.
