NPP expels 279 people, including Cynthia Morrison

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared that approximately 280 members in Agona West will be expelled for actions that are thought to be against the party’s constitution.

The decision was made unanimously at a meeting of the Expanded Constituency Executive Committee on Sunday, December 15, 2024, and will take effect on December 16, 2024.

The party expelled 280 members, including former Gender Minister Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison.

Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, the constituency chairman for Agona West, signed a notice prohibiting the expelled members from posing as NPP members indefinitely.

The statement emphasized that the decision was made in response to multiple grievances raised by other party members about the behavior of the expelled individuals.

According to the party, these actions are in accordance with Article 3(9)(1) of its 2017 Constitution (as amended), which permits such actions against members who do not adhere to the party’s loyalty and ideals.

The NPP has urged its members to uphold the party’s principles and constitution in order to preserve its integrity and unity before upcoming elections. The Central Regional Chairman and the media have been provided with a comprehensive list of the expelled individuals for additional distribution.
