NPP National Council of Elders urges calm amid efforts to rebuild the party

The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged party members and supporters to desist from campaigning for party positions. This demand comes as the party works to rebuild and reenergize itself following its devastating 2024 electoral defeats.

The council, chaired by Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, voiced concern over the premature campaign activities, underlining that the party’s attention should be on determining the root causes of its poor performance in the last elections. An Election Review Committee, chaired by Professor Mike Oquaye, has been formed to engage party members, stakeholders, and the general public before submitting a report with findings and recommendations within three months.

The council advised party members to reflect soberly on the 2024 election results and emphasize rebuilding and revitalizing the party.

The party reaffirmed it’s commitment to strengthening the party’s structures and strategising for a strong comeback in the next electoral cycle.

NPP NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ELDERS APPEALS TO PARTY MEMBERS AND SYMPATHIZERS TO REFRAIN FROM CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES FOR PARTY POSITIONS

The attention of the National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been drawn to campaign activities by some party executives, members, and sympathizers in support of those interested in various positions within the party at the constituency, regional, and national levels

The elders of the Party are deeply concerned about this development and wish to appeal to all our members and sympathizers to refrain from such activities which do not help our effort to rebuild and energize the party following our 2024 disappointing electoral defeats

We wish to remind ourselves that the focus of the Party at this critical time is to organize a detailed assessment of the causes of the Party’s dismaying performance in the recent elections. In pursuance of this goal, an Election Review Committee chaired by Professor Mike Oquaye has been set up by the NPP National Council. The Committee is expected to, within three months, engage Party members, stakeholders, and the general public on its terms of reference, after which it shall submit a report containing its findings and recommendations

Fellow members of NPP, this is the time for us to soberly reflect on what happened to us in 2024 Time for internal competitions shall certainly come to pass. For the moment, it is critical for us to rebuild and energize our party

We have done it before, and with the good Lord on our side and determination, we can do it again

LONG LIVE NPP.

Signed

Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang Chairman, National Council of Elders
