Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana-B, the National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer, has formally informed the party’s national officers about his choice of running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Dr. Bawumia formally notified the party leadership on July 1, according to a Facebook post made by Nana-B on Monday, July 1.
He said that the meeting was held at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, after Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s nomination to the majority caucus in Parliament had been presented earlier.
The nomination is currently awaiting the National Council’s decision, which is the NPP’s ultimate approval body.
“Dr Bawumia has today, 1st July, 2024, formally informed National Officers of the NPP of his nomination of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as his running mate in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.”
“The meeting which occurred at the NPP’s headquarters in Asylum Down follows an earlier presentation of Dr Opoku Prempeh’s nomination to the majority caucus of Parliament,” he posted.
