The Sunyani East constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened nominations for the parliamentary primary election.
The deadline for submitting nominations is Saturday, February 17, 2024; the process will open on Wednesday, February 14.
Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates (APCs) must obtain nomination forms from the NPP National Headquarters in Accra after paying a non-refundable application fee of GHC 3,000 in Bankers Draft and a non-refundable filing fee of GHC 35,000 in Bankers Draft, according to a statement signed by the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
On the other hand, candidates seeking higher political office who are women, young people, or people with disabilities (PWDs) will receive a 50% filing fee refund.
A non-refundable payment of GHC17,500 will be needed from them. The decreased cost is deemed applicable to applicants who are youths, defined as those who fall between the ages of 18 and 40.
The announcement stated that all aspiring parliamentary candidates, with the exception of the current member of parliament (MP), would have to pay a Party Development Fee of GHC 40,000 in addition to the filing expenses.
