Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian media for their indispensable support of both his political campaigns and the country’s progress.
In the event that the NPP wins the general elections in 2024, he pledged that the government will maintain tight ties with the media and would support media freedom.
Speaking on Sunday, August 25, in Accra, Dr. Bawumia said things to media, “The NPP views the media as a crucial partner in national development.”
“In our quest to expand the frontiers of democratic governance in Ghana, it was thus the NPP under former President J. A Kufuor that repealed the criminal libel law for the media to function fully. The NPP will continue to partner with the media and ensure media freedom.
“We’re partners with you and the partnership I will continue to keep, as the new leader of the NPP. We’re committed to deepening media freedom.”
