The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Mfantseman Constituency has withdrawn from the District Registration Review Committee (DRRC) citing bias in the committee’s decisions and adjudications.
Mr. Evans Osie, the Constituency Secretary, told the media that the party’s leadership took the decision due to the committee’s failure to adhere to guidelines and its biased stance against the NPP.
The statement alleged that the committee, which includes EC officials, the police commander, traditional leaders, and political party representatives, had compromised the process, leading to the party’s withdrawal.
Specifically, the party cited an instance where the committee chair and police commander disregarded guidelines requiring passports or NHIS cards as proof of date of birth in disputed cases.
The party’s leadership has expressed its commitment to upholding democratic processes in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, despite its withdrawal from the committee.
