#OccupyJulorbi, #FixTheCountry protests all about NDC’s interest – Kwame Bediako

The founder and commander of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, has strengthened his stance over the demonstrations at Democracy Hub that resulted in some protestors being taken into custody and charged.

In a widely shared social media video, Cheddar criticised violent protesters while seated in his SUV driven by a valet.

He also made a compelling case that one of the groups benefiting from Ghana’s duopoly—which he wants to overthrow—was the one who started the demonstrations organized by Oliver Baker and Volkawor at the Democracy Hub.

Regarding “my last video about not supporting violence, I still stand on that and I mean that,” the independent presidential candidate said.

“We cannot do this to ourselves because of a politician personal interests or a party’s interests.

“Please, Ghana, do your research. The people in front of all these demonstrations, some of them have treason charges. Ask, find out, who sponsored them for the mobilisations, and all the things that happened.

Cheddar asked citizens and the electorate to “do your research,” and recognised Democracy Hub’s 2023 and 2024 protests “is not about galamsey” but “this is about a political interest”.

Demonstrators have battled with Ghana Police Service personnel during both of Democracy Hub’s organized protests, resulting in arrests.

39 people were arrested, charged with various counts of lawlessness, and placed under detention following their three-day protest last weekend, according to police.
