Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has threatened to take the government to court over the unjust dismissal of young people recruited by the government after the December 7 polls.
According to him, the government’s decision to dismiss these young people without just cause is “nothing but political victimization.”
He stated in a statement available to Original TV that “If this government is serious about job creation, it should be expanding opportunities, not displacing workers. Sacking people and replacing them does nothing to reduce unemployment – it only deepens economic hardship.”
Ekow Assafuah, who is also a member of the Parliamentary Select Committees on Education and House, expressed his disappointment with the government’s actions, promising that the next NPP government will reinstate the dismissed staff.
“It is deeply unfortunate and unacceptable that young people, duly recruited by a properly constituted Ghanaian government, are now being dismissed without just cause,” he said.
He emphasized that Ghana is a constitutional government, governed by laws and not unknown unconstitutional principles.
“Our 1992 Constitution abhors the arbitrary exercise of power in a capricious fashion. The Constitution further frowns upon the removal, dismissal or termination of the employment of persons belonging to the public services without a just cause,” he quoted.
Ekow Assafuah has urged all victims of these politically motivated dismissals to reach out to him, promising to fight for their rights.
“We will fight this injustice together,” he assured.
