Opare Addo accuses clergy of being Pro-NPP

National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Youth Organizer George Opare Addo claims that clergy members exhibit prejudice in support of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He chastised these religious leaders for their silence about claims of corruption and state capture by the current regime.

Speaking at the NDC’s youth manifesto presentation, Opare Addo claimed that these clerics had previously openly supported the NPP, as had some crooked civil society organizations and tainted media sources.

He asserted, meanwhile, that they are now ignoring the purported corruption in the administration.

“They rallied self-centred clergymen and women, corrupt civil society groups and rented media to achieve this agenda, today these men of God have disappeared and turned deaf and blind to the wanton act of corruption, state capture and untold hardships unleashed on Ghanaians by Bawumia and Akufo-Addo’’ he said

Additionally, he made a resounding declaration that the youth of Ghana would not sit idly by and let politicians commit state capture.

He made the argument that young people are growing more watchful and ready to hold elected officials responsible for making sure that power is used for the good of the people rather than for individual or party gain.

“We have been robbed of our dignity as young people and how our future has been stolen from us. We will not forget to hold them accountable for our suffering.

“Today many of them have come out to apologise to him [Mahama] for what they did. For them to be able to amass this wealth and steal from us, they needed to destroy his reputation’’ he added.
