Otto Addo unveils squad for Angola and Niger AFCON qualifiers

Black Stars Head Coach, Otto Addo has unveiled the team for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

The squad features familiar faces like Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, Alidu Seidu, Mohammed Kudus, Gideon Mensah, Alexander Djiku, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and more.

Thomas Partey, fully fit and having participated in Arsenal’s matches since the last international window, was surprisingly excluded from the squad. Additionally, team captain Andre Ayew remains absent despite recently signing with Le Havre and playing in their last three games.

Goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen makes a return after a long absence, whiles Asante Kotoko’s Frederick Asare is dropped. Samartex’s Isaac Afful retains his spot, while Emmanuel Antwi from Asante Kotoko and Razak Simpson from Nations FC earn their first call-up.

The Black Stars will play Angola in Luanda on November 15, 2024, and Niger in Accra on November 18, 2024. Ghana needs to win both matches and hope for Sudan’s losses to qualify for the AFCON
